X11 Cards Are Here!

October 15, 2024

X11 has implemented full support for X11 NFC cards as a part of ecosystem and user support. Now, users and businesses can benefit from the capability to interact with Blockchain without using Smartphone apps. This is critical while working with the informal economy and developing markets. Cards can be used to sign transactions and provide wallet information. Initially, the X11 app will work in collaboration with cards, and soon after 3rd, third-party Point of Sales (POS) terminals will also support cards.

Benefits of the Cards in Informal Economy Markets

  1. Ease of Use: NFC cards are super simple to use—just tap and go! No need to unlock a phone or navigate through apps, which can be convenient for both users and vendors in busy environments.
  2. Low Barrier to Entry: Not everyone has access to the latest smartphones or a reliable internet connection. NFC cards can be used by anyone, making transactions more accessible, especially in areas where technology adoption is still growing.
  3. Speedy Transactions: Tapping an NFC card is usually faster than pulling out a phone, opening an app, and processing the payment. This can help manage long lines and improve the overall shopping experience.
  4. More Reliable for Quick Purchases: In situations where time is of the essence, NFC cards can reduce the chances of interruptions or delays that might occur with phone apps due to battery issues, software updates, or app crashes.
  5. Privacy and Security: NFC cards can offer a layer of privacy since users don’t need to share personal information or phone numbers. The transactions can be more discreet, which is a plus for many in informal settings.
  6. Durability: NFC cards are often more durable than smartphones. They can withstand spills, drops, and rough handling, making them suited for hectic environments like markets or street vendors.
  7. No Need for Updates: Unlike apps that require constant updates and can become obsolete or incompatible, NFC cards are straightforward and don’t need regular maintenance, which simplifies things for both merchants and customers.
  8. Broader Acceptance: Some merchants in the informal economy might be more willing to accept NFC cards than smartphone payments, especially if it means they can avoid dealing with complex tech issues.
  9. Affordability: Setting up an NFC card system might be more cost-effective for small vendors than investing in smartphones and data plans, allowing them to keep prices lower for customers.
  10. Easier for Training: Training staff or vendors to accept NFC cards can be quicker and simpler compared to teaching them how to manage a mobile payment app, which could have multiple features and settings. Using NFC cards in the informal economy can streamline payments, making transactions smoother for everyone involved!
